The Museum

So yesterday I started going to http://www.nrm.se/ and paint there. 

           Here is some work from yesterday and today! Plus how it was a bit : )

    These last couple of pictures are brilliant Theodora! Would you mind telling me a little about your painting process? Like whats your approach when painting from life? What diffrent stages do you go through on a piece like this? I read somewhere that you have studied at SARA, I wish I could afford to go there sometime but hey, its a lot of money. I try to paint on a daily basis, but do you have any tips on how i can improve on my own?

      Sketch a lot from life photos what ever works. Put time into your sketches. If it takes you 8 hours to do a portrait do it. Patience , good knowledge of shapes and technical drawing skills will improve your speed.

      Painting is a technique. When you master drawing you will make your own approach towards your subject. Use big brushes when you paint. And start with grayscale pallet. Like raw umber ( red hue) ivory black and titanium white. I suggest you look up Richard Schmidt captain's portrait video. He explains to know how to get to understand how brush strokes works you can do it less complicated and use the grayscale rage to not complicate your self



      But first master drawing. Then my friend color will painting will be easy

      I like your pencil ink work. Sketch more and tame your time. And use reference as much as you can till you see your quality improving. Its the only way to improve. Mostly patience is the key to success.
